Having survived a gruelling eight day trek in temperatures as low as minus 35, Professional IT's Managing Director Steven Smith will be swapping the stillness and tranquillity of the Arctic Circle for the hustle and bustle of the 2008 London Marathon. No doubt he’ll be wishing he had his arctic team of dogs to pull him along.
Steven’s aim to raise as much money as possible for his chosen charities, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Breast Cancer Research took on a note of poignancy when one of his fellow arctic adventurers was told that his mother had died of MND while he was on the trip. Steven lost his mother to the same disease ten years ago.
“When you wake up in the morning, it's minus 20 and your sleeping bag is crusty with ice, it brings home why I'm there doing it. I intend to dedicate my marathon run to his mum and mine, plus absent friends.”
With less than two weeks to go, please help make all of Steven’s efforts worthwhile. So far he and his wife Karen, who was diagnosed with breast cancer herself three years ago, have raised over £76,000 but more is always needed.
