2008 Arctic Challenge. This event took the participants to the extreme both in terms of personal endurance and adventure as they 'mushed' with dog sleds over 200kms through the ice and snow of Sweden's northern wilderness.
We did it.! We arrived back with all fingers and toes, which is useful for running The 2008 London Marathon.
What can we tell you? It was COLD!!! -27 still air, long days, and not much sleep.
We shared this amazing trip with 16 others, and collectively, raised over £110,000.
With a special thought to a friend of mine, who lost his mother to MND while we were out in the Arctic.
The Genifer Smith Trust Fund has now raised over £76,000
A big thank you for all your generous Arctic donations and to those who have given me money towards the Marathon.
If after reading about any of the events that we have done and you would like to donate, please go to the charity main page. It is simple, fast and totally secure. What is Motor Neurone Disease (MND)?
MND is a rapidly progressive, fatal disease that can affect any adult at any time. The cause of MND is unknown and there is no known cure.
It affects around 5,000 people in this country alone at any one time. In the UK at least three people a day die from MND. Around half will die within 14 months of diagnosis. The disease leaves people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves, but the intellect and senses are usually unaffected.
